African pygmy hedgehog

These small hedgehogs, also called four-toed hedgehogs, live in almost entire central and eastern Africa. They are 15-25 cm long, weigh 250-600 g, length of the quills is 0.5-1.7 cm.
Average lifespan is 4-6 years. They feed on insects, snails, spiders. They have high resistance to poison, thus, sometimes eat even scorpions.
Main predators – eagle-owls, jackals, hyenas and badgers.
